She began her career at Cambria Winery in 1994, where she started as receptionist, hostess/tour guide, human resources, AP/AR, shipping, receiving and government record keeper. She quickly learned the language of the industry and that “numbers are our friends.” With only a few days of training, Julie found herself in a whole new world with an enormous amount of responsibility….and she loved it! It was there that she was taught to have a healthy respect for the ATF/TTB and that if you work with them…..they will work with you.
In early 1997, Julie decided to take some time off to spend at home with her newborn son. In the fall of 1998 she was ready to return to work and Central Coast Wine Services had just moved to a new location and expanded their business. The timing was perfect.
Julie started at CCWS in November 1998 doing data entry and record keeping for the bulk wine side of the business. Already understanding what records were required for the government, it didn’t talk long for her to completely understand what an Alternating Proprietorship/Custom Crush facility is and how to effectively deal with it on paper.
Five years later, Julie still finds herself intrigued with the legal side of winery operations and the complexity of both Paso Robles and Central Coast Wine Services. She has established strong relationships within the various departments of the Tax and Trade Bureau and continues to hone her craft of juggling wineries.
Outside of work Julie enjoys camping, kayaking and working in her garden.
